We Make It Easy

We all want our lives made easier. That’s why we have Google Maps, to tell us where we need to go. Click and collect grocery services, so we don’t have to trawl the aisles of the supermarket anymore. Recipe books to tell us how to make a dish, so we don’t have to remember it. Reminders sent about doctors’ appointments that we’d probably end up missing.

At Sydney Water Tanks it is our mission to making the whole water tank experience as easy and hands-free for you as possible. We have the expertise and years in the business to know exactly the right course of action in each customer’s unique case.

We work alongside your architect, hydraulic engineer, plus other service professionals to help get your site’s water tanks from the design phase, through to council approval, manufacture, and ultimately installation as smoothly, seamlessly, and as effortlessly as possible.

This process begins with assessing the layout of the site so we can best determine the position, size and number of water tanks required. We can then help with different profiles relating to drainage, etc. that we know have worked previously and been approved by councils. For the installation, we go through the site with your plumber to decipher precisely what they need to do and provide a comprehensive installation guide so they can get it right the first time around. We provide support throughout the process when requested by your onsite professional team.

Underground water tanks are particularly handy to have in NSW because as you know, the weather can get quite wild and woolly. Having appropriate drainage and tanks in place can help you get through those raging storms without having to worry about flooding.

They’re also a great way to catch that extra rain and save buckets on the cost of your water bills. By using rainwater collection systems, you can reroute this water back to your garden, toilet, or laundry. You’ll be happy in the knowledge that you’re doing your part for the environment by recycling water. Recycling everything is what we should all be doing more of.

For quotes, advice, or questions about your site, make sure to give us a call or send an enquiry to Sydney Water Tanks. All About Our Concrete Tank Range

Our Concrete Pits and Grates in Focus

Installing our concrete pits and grates on your property is the best way to ensure that you avoid storm and flooding damage, and we manufacture all our setups in our very own production factory in Smeaton Grange, just outside of Campbeltown in NSW.

We produce these pits and grates to suit a wide variety of different applications, landscapes and building configurations, spurred on by the concreting expertise of the Martin Group. They’re not only applicable for stormwater and drainage, but can be used for inspection, access ways, electrical uses, and junctions.

These detention control pits are built to your specifications, to suit the hydraulic drawing that has been drawn up for your site. We help to discover which optional riser rings, inlets and outlets are the correct choices for your setup.

Our pits are all built to standards where applicable, for BioSeptic to AS/NZS 1546.1 Small septic tank and AS/NZS 1546.3 Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems. As with all of our products, we offer complete quality assurance, and follow strict procedures for construction, for our customers’ peace of mind.

So, how do we make our concrete stormwater pits? First off, we wet cast, with concrete that is reinforced with steel fibre, to ensure the material is strong and doesn’t shatter or break. The pit has two swift type levers for easy access, as well as knockouts surrounding the construction. The galvanised grates conform to the Australian standard AS3996.2006, and all edges of the concreting are smooth for ongoing safety.

Because these products are heavy, we offer delivery and loading on site with our crane if need be, which our customers often appreciate!

If you need concrete pits, then you need concrete pits. There’s no escaping it. You don’t want to avoid putting one in only to find your site flooding with one of Sydney’s notorious storms.

At Sydney Water Tanks we make sure that our customers have exactly the right underground concrete tank setup for their site – as informed by your hydraulic drawings. We can help point you in the right direction if you need these to be drawn up, too.

Our customers rely on the quality of our products, the expertise of our team, and the timeliness of our services. So if you are in the market for a new concrete pit ask us for a quote.

All About Our Concrete Tank Range

Our Concrete Pits and Grates in Focus

Our SWT Onsite Detention Tanks

Australia is rather dry in certain regions for an island nation. We have one rainy season a year, and even though we’re surrounded by the ocean, a lot of our local water sources are salty lakes. Our municipal water systems often have a hard time keeping up, so during the three months of torrential downpours, and it’s a good idea to harvest as much rainwater as possible.

The downside of having just one season of annual heavy precipitation is the volumes can become unmanageable. Big buildings like apartments and office blocks have massive roofs with immense surface areas. As the rain lands on those roofs, it can accumulate and seep into the roofing structure, causing crumbling, leaks, and other forms of damage.

Even if the roof is slanted and has a properly aligned gutter system, the amount of water may be too much for the roof drainage to contain. This is where Onsite Detention tanks (OSDs) come in. They are specially made storm-water systems that can collect and hold large amounts of water. This water is then gradually released into the municipal system.

By controlling the pace of water flow, you can prevent property damage. The measured flow avoids overwhelming the local drainage system. Usually, OSDs are coupled with Detention Control Pits (DCPs). These underground water tanks increase the capacity of the OSD by offering more storage space.

Of course, the storm-water doesn’t necessarily have to be discarded. It can be channelled into an under deck rainwater tank or even a regular water tank on the surface. These tanks prevent wastage while still protecting the local water disposal mechanisms. In many regions, you can’t put up a large building without council-approved OSDs and DCPs.

Detention tanks are best built onsite because they are too bulky and cumbersome to transport to your construction venue. A professional hydraulic engineer will inspect your site and draft a design for the tank. This draft will generally be interpreted and executed by a local plumber. Here at Sydney Water Tanks, we have a specialised team to handle it.

Our plumbers will inspect your technical drawings and implement them onsite. We can install your entire storm-water system, including inlets, outlets, orifice plates, rungs, pits, sumps, screes, and overflows. If something goes wrong with the system, later on, we are available for repair and maintenance at friendly prices.

If you already have some kind of drainage system in place, we can still help. We can evaluate your site based on location and water conditions. We can then adapt your current system to develop a more effective storm-water mechanism. Before we arrive, look at the OSD drawings and excavate your selected site as shown in the design plans.

You OSD drainage system can be constructed using in ground water tanks, or you can choose to have tanks that are only partly underground. Our plumbers will gladly guide you on the best fit for your circumstances, and your budget.

At Sydney Water Tanks we stock a range of inground water tanks that not only offer a wide range of features and benefits but also safety. The process from design to manufacturing to installation is simple, once installed these water tanks are incredibly easy to use.

Our access covers are secure and sealed with safety in the forefront of our design and installation process; the lockable covers have three stainless steel bolts and a large 600mm clear opening for easy access and ongoing maintenance. All our inground water tank covers have a watertight seal and are super lightweight at just 9.5kilos, with a load test of 1.5 tonnes. Thanks to different height turrets and inlet depths that create the fall to the tank they are perfect for any light traffic areas.

Our variable height turret will save you money. We find the best spot for your tank to ensure every drop of harvestable rain enters your tank; you eliminate sediment build up in the pipes and get maximum rainwater storage.

No one wants an eye-sore in the backyard, our inground water tanks mean out of sight – out of mind, with a water tank buried flush with the ground it means it can be placed below gardens and even driveways. No unsightly water tank taking up space in your yard.

Avoid the problems of contaminated backflow with an overflow flap valve, fitted to the tank overflow the full flow flap valve stops backflow and vermin entering your tank, while not restricting the overflow.

Silent – the stainless-steel submersible pump is quiet and efficient. Our pump is designed to operate efficiently, and it works quietly from inside your tank giving you a constant supply of rainwater to the rain switch.

Wet cast individually from 40mpa steel fibre reinforced concrete and manufactured to meet the requirements of AS1546.1 extra strength water tanks are guaranteed.

A 1mm steel mesh mosquito proof leaf filter means only clean water enters your tank and nothing else, ensuring you have clean water at all times.

Your tank won’t float with our 10,000L tank we use retention concrete to ensure your tank won’t float – saving you time and money.

Our intelligent Rain Switch system will detect automatically when there is water in the tank available for use and will seamlessly switch your selected outlets to tank water without you having to do a thing.

As an optional extra, you can choose the cleaner first roof catchment with the first flush, which catches the first 170L of water from the roof catchment, diverting it BEFORE it enters the rainwater tank, which will keep your water tank cleaner.

A Close Look at Our Rain Switch feature

When it comes to rain tanks, we are some of the best in the business, supplying NSW residences and commercial properties with intelligent water supply systems that help our country be more environmentally friendly, and help our customers save plenty off their water bills. One of the features of our underground water tanks that helps us to achieve the best in tank design is our rain switch.

So what on Earth is the rain switch?

The rain switch is the little switch that is installed as part of your water tank setup that will automatically choose the rainwater tank for delivering water to various outlets at your home, such as the toilet cistern, the outdoor garden taps, or the laundry sink taps. This way you are automatically using recycled water for these outlets.

Instead of having to flip a switch yourself when you find you’ve run out of rainwater in the tank, the switch flips over to using the town water supply automatically – you don’t have to lift a finger, it does it all for you.

Even more intuitive is the way that it flips back over to your rainwater supply when there is enough water gathered in the tank again – so you can keep saving money instead of having to remember to switch it back to the tank after having so rains.

It’s also all there in front of you-you can tell whether the source for your water supply is from your tank or your mains, leaving no uncertainty about what is going on with your system. This is displayed in your main display panel for the system. This display system can be put pretty much anywhere in the home for the most convenient read out to keep an eye on things.

The rain switch itself is contained within a cabinet specifically for switching purposes, and it is made out of water-resistant stainless steel. The cabinet itself comes with straightforward mounting points to hook up to both the water and the electricity, so it is popular with plumbers and electricians because they are able to do their job as smoothly as possible.

The rain switch is available with all our underground rain tank systems, and can also be retrofitted to many other rainwater tank setups. If you are interested in learning more about the rain switch or any other of our clever features that we use in our systems, then don’t be afraid to ask. Chat to us today at Sydney Water Tanks to find out more about our impressive systems and ways in which you can save money around the home as well as do your bit in helping out with the environment.

What our rainwater storage tanks offer

Summer is here, and this means we will be using more water – longer showers, watering the garden, washing the car.

Inground water tanks store all that rainwater that runs off the roof of your home all year round, rather than it being wasted, it is stored securely for use later. It can be stored as drinking water, shower water, for washing clothes and dishes or just for use in the garden. Save on your water bills, and be able to water your garden when you like – as long as you have water in your tank, you don’t have to *worry* about water restrictions.

Larger in ground water tanks are great, as they are protected from the UV rays of the sun, won’t corrode and are very durable. Figure out the space you have available, and you’ll be able to find a tank that suits your needs and space perfectly.

Underground Water Tanks Free Up Space for Your Family

How Easily Water Tanks can Be Installed

Water tanks are an essential part of modern living. Winter has just ended, and if you had a water tank installed, you could easily have collected enough free rainwater to last the next few months. Rainwater has no chemical contaminants, making it safer for plants and cars, though you might not want to drink it without sterilising it first.

When you order a tank from SWT, you get lots of benefits. Our tanks are easy to install and need minimal maintenance. We place our tanks underground, so they can sit in the yard, below your patio, or even under your driveway. This saves yard space and maintains the aesthetics of your grounds since there’s no visible tank or piping.

All our tanks are made from concrete reinforced with 40 mpa steel. We cast them using a single-pour wet mould method, and there are no joints between the floor and walls of the tanks. This reduces the chances of leakage. The containers come with a watertight sealed lid that is bolted down with stainless steel rivets. The steel adds strength and prevents corrosion.

Installing underground concrete tanks is quite simple. Some manufacturers prefer to lay the concrete onsite so that the tank dries on your property, but our approach is different. While we do engineer each tank to your specific requirements and landscape, we assemble our tanks on our premises then deliver them to your home with a crane truck.

Our manufacturing process is a one-pour system, so we install inlets, outlets, accessories and lids before the tank leaves our site. We deliver a complete tank to you, with its quiet pump and rain switch. You’ll need a plumber or electrician to connect the rain switch to your internal plumbing, but it’s designed in a way that is easy for them to insert.

While the tank will be delivered to you in a state that is ready to use, you may need to do some prepping. Check in with your local authorities to see if they have any regulations regarding underwater tanks. We offer tanks in sizes ranging from 3,800 litres to 11,500 litres, so we can accommodate any capacity limits that may apply to your neighbourhood.

Your municipality will confirm whether there are any sewer lines, power cables, communication wires, or any other form of infrastructure that might restrict the location of your tank. Underground concrete tank installations involve digging a hole for the tank, so you’ll need to plan for the disposal of any cleared bushes, excavated soil, or unearthed stone.

Our cranes will bring the tank to you, as well as all the accessories, and we’ve purposely made it easy for your plumber. The pump is set up in such a way that it remains underwater throughout and hardly makes any noise. The lid has a see-through screen for ease of tank maintenance and is strong enough to be safe beneath your parked car.

Our tanks will sit flush against the ground, so you don’t need a concrete slab. Just dig the hole, lay the tank, and cover it up. The rain switch will let you know the water levels and automatically change your supply from rainwater to municipal water whenever necessary.
