- Metal tanks:
- These can be made from a variety of metals such as Zincalume, Colorbond and Aquaplate
- They come in a variety of shapes and sizes
- Installed above ground only
- Charged downpipes, water can become stagnant and dirty
- Unsightly and uses up valuable land space
- Are prone to transport damage
- Will rust and have shorter lifespan than other tanks
- Fibreglass tanks:
- Strong and durable
- Mostly used for above ground applications
- Charged downpipes, water can become stagnant and dirty
- Unsightly and uses up valuable land space
- Are prone to transport damage
- Most expensive option
- PVC or bladder tanks:
- Are to be used aboveground or under decks
- Are made from PVC material and sit in a steel frame for support
- Easily broken/split if not handled gently
- Have shorter lifespan than other tanks
